Took about 2 hours. Worth the $8 ferry ride with roads like this along the way. I have a cold tall beer waiting for me at home. Yum. Enjoy your weekend.

That’s a bit out there. I haven’t explored any of Southern Illinois farther north than 270, and I had no idea where any ferries are around here.
I know that ferries are all over the place, but in SoCal my only experience was the Balboa Island ferry in Newport Beach. It’s been operating since 1919 and the trip distance is pretty short. I have memories from the early ‘70s of my family running out of money on the Balboa peninsula and having to search for deposit bottles to get the fare to get back to the car. With the claim chowder selling for something like $0.35/bowl we ran out of money fast. I’ve probably forgotten details of that event, but I know we needed something like 25 cents to get back home...
